That first counselling session or discovery call can feel so nerve-wracking (I get it AND I’ve been there myself), but I promise it’s a safe & judgment-free space 🫶🏻

You know you need to take care of yourself but feel like there’s never enough hours in the day… it feels like a constant push/pull.

I work with a lot of postpartum moms, teachers, & women in the midst of the busy fall, back-to-school season of life so there have been a lot of conversations around the micro-moments of self care.

When an hour+ of “you time” might not feel realistic or supportive, it’s still so important to identify ways to show up for yourself in those “in between” moments.

Make a “self care menu” in your notes app (or steal mine above) and when you find yourself with 5-15 minutes, choose something from the list rather than going into a mindless scroll-hole📱.

Let’s commit to caring for ourselves, even in the busy seasons! 💕

I don’t know how you’re feeling right now, but

I don’t know how you’re feeling right now, but September really snuck up on me.

And sometimes that feeling, at this time of year, brings with it an overwhelming sense that I need to hurry up and get “back into the flowe” after months of more flexibility and spontaneity.

So today, rather than dive into the hustle of the “back to school” energy, I sat with myself and thought about what I’m wanting to let go of this month and what I’m wanting to lean into.

And I thought I’d share my list and invite you to write your own, if you’re also feeling caught up in the chaotic energy of the month.

Slow it down. Reflect. Set intentions. And lean into those.

When I’m working with counselling clients, I oft

When I’m working with counselling clients, I often hear the underlying belief coming through that “rest is a reward”…

But can I be SO honest?

I believe that leads to burnout 🫠

Why?

Because it makes self care conditional on your achievements, rather than something that is essential for your well-being.

And oftentimes, it’s too late to be helpful by the time you’ve reached that point because you’ve run yourself into the ground with exhaustion.

It’s like saying, “I only change the oil on my car once there’s smoke coming outta the hood”… 🚗💨

Cars need regular maintenance and care to function at their best and so do humans.

So here’s a challenge for you today…

Reflect on your relationship with rest using these prompts:

✨what do you believe about rest?

✨what do you feel in your body when you allow yourself to rest?

✨what messages were you given about rest in the family you grew up in (either spoken or unspoken)?

✨what do you WANT to believe about rest?

✨what feels restful to you and how might you incorporate that more regularly?
